In the meantime, have fun without me and, needless to say, I shall fill you in on the trip when I return, providing the Large Hadron Collider hasn’t blown up or sucked the planet into a black-hole the size of a tennis ball.

I was vaguely reassured today that the Large Hadron Collider soon to start creating mini black-holes under the French-Swiss border will pose “no conceivable danger”. This is only reassuring in as much as I think that anything conceivably bad will clearly be avoided. What slightly worries me is that those things that are are inconceivable are no doubt harder to mitigate against and therefore rather more likely to happen.

If I start turning into a penguin any time soon I will know that Zaphod Beeblebrox was right and I shall wish I’d jetted into outer space with the infinite improbability drive a long time ago.
